About My Urban Toddler

What is the story behind My Urban Toddler? When I had Lauren (my first daughter) I struggled to find places and people who could relate to what we, as new parents, were experiencing. I had tried going to the usual places, book stores for story time, classes at the local churches, etc. But somehow, the community and conversations never evolved more than just hello and how are you. So my wish was to find somewhere we could go with my child(ren) that was completely age appropriate, clean, organized and not cartoony, while being sophisticated and fun.

I started looking and started dreaming about that special place when Lauren was about 6 months old.

So, through the eyes of a mother and an adult who craved adult conversation, great products and a place to educate families, I created My Urban Toddler in 2006. MUT is the solution for children too young or too small to play at the typical play space locations. It is both a mingling place for parents and an imagination-driven destination for toddlers. Infants and toddlers age 0 through 5 are able to safely explore activities using fine and gross motor skills throughout the custom designed play areas. As a former an architect, I designed a miniature city (where URBAN came from in our name) for children to explore and play.

So as I mentioned earlier, this place wasn't designed for only the children... Among the many features, you will have access to premier shopping, classes, a private nursing room, lactation consultants, car seat technicians, coffee and wireless Internet access in the cafe and a place to have conversations about kids, changes, relationships...life!

When we opened, my husband and I had no idea how big MUT would get OR how big our family would be as well!  2 years after we opened, Jessica was born and joined Lauren to play at My Urban Toddler!

On December 20, 2009 Allison arrived in time to celebrate Christmas with her sisters!  And finally, we had our boy, Michael Lee! He was born on May 29, 2011. Yes, we are done!

This August, we welcomed our new business partners Craig and Lorrie McKee! As professionals and parents of two gorgeous girls, they bring business and retail expertise as well as parenting experience to our team.  Our mutual goal to franchise is becoming a reality!
