The Down Syndrome Support Team is dedicated to promoting acceptance and awareness of people with Down syndrome in our community. We seek to bring families together to share experiences and build lasting friendships, and to provide activities and learning experiences for those with Down syndrome. We collaborate with our local community by providing Down syndrome information and resources to local hospitals, doctors, schools and organizations.

Our activities this past year included:

• General meetings for the whole family held every other month
• DSST sponsored Children’s Music programs (hopefully dance and gymnastics to come this year)
• Summer Speech Groups
  
• Sign Language Classes
• Parent & Tot playgroups
• Summer Family Fun picnic
• DSST Holiday Party Annual Buddy Walk
• Interface with University of Michigan and St. Joseph hospitals where we provide NDSS New Family packets and books for new parents
• Participation in University of Michigan’s Kinesiology lab research

DSST is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that raises funds from individuals, corporations, and special events. All funds raised go 100% to support the group’s activities, as volunteers perform all administrative work.
